Best Guided Excursions

if you’re looking for the full saltwater experience – this is where you will get it. Guided through the creeks of the Folly river by our experienced naturalists you will be able to learn while both having fun and making memories.

We love to see people experience kayaking and paddleboarding for the first time and learn how effortless it can be. On our guided excursions you will learn the true names of local birds and creatures, see playful and feeding dolphins up close, learn a little Charleston history, and go places where most wouldn’t.

We offer several different types of excursions. If you are looking for a fun, easy-going trip we offer 2.5 hour creek adventures which involve exploring the local creeks and marshes that surround our location and hitting all of the wildlife hotspots. We also offer 2.5 hour trips for both the sunrise and sunset because you truly can not beat a lowcountry sunrise/sunset – especially from our location and on the water! If you are a more experienced paddler looking for a big adventure, we offer a 4.5 hour excursion to the Morris Island Lighthouse. On this trip you will see it all and even get to land your kayak on the Morris Island beach to have lunch, look for sea shells and shark teeth and get to experience the historic lighthouse up close.

For all tours, our experienced guides will give groups a beforehand tutorial and safety lesson for everything you need to know while out on the water. You will be instructed on everything from the proper way to hold your paddles to how to get back in your boat or on your board if you intentionally (or accidentally) take a swim.

*We ask that you arrive 15 minutes prior to your departure time for paperwork (if you haven’t already filled out the waivers online) and for safety and proper paddle instruction

Cancellation Policy:

  • If you cancel a guided excursion over 24 hours in advance, you will receive a complete refund.
  • If you cancel a guided excursion within 24 hours of departure, you will be charged a 40% cancellation fee or a 15% reschedule fee.
  • For large groups (8+ people), corporate groups, and school groups we have a 48 hour cancellation policy. If cancelled after 48 hours you will be subject to a 40% cancellation fee or a 15% rescheduling fee.

Recommendations:

  • Please wear closed toe, water resistant, shoes if possible. Oysters are everywhere in our local waterways.
  • Synthetic or fast drying clothes are preferable since you will most likely be getting wet. Jeans and cotton shirts are not our friends here at Castaway.
  • Please bring sunscreen, bug repellent (mosquitos and gnats are Charleston locals too), sun glasses, a snack or lunch if on a long adventure, drinking water, and a water resistant camera if you want to risk it**

**water shoes, sunscreen, bug repellent, waterproof cameras, and cold drinks can all be purchased in our Castaway office
